Potluck and Rachel Kilgour concert Nov 19, 2pm
November 19, 2023 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
From Bruce Koran ([email protected]), the organizer:
“Our final show of the year is coming up in a week. We still need a few more reservations to insure a good payday for Rachael.
I usually try to think of some sort of “punchy” copy to attract more folks, but instead, I wanted to share what I heard on America”s oldest folk music show The Midnight Special, on Chicago’s WFMT. The host wanted to play a set with three top notch women singer/songwriters. The three she chose were the incredible Sylvia Tyson (Ian & Sylvia, the late Kate Wolf (one of the all time best) and Rachael Kilgour (from her latest album). I don’t have Sylvia booked and Kate is long gone. but you can see and hear Rachael for yourself, next Sunday.
Here are the details:
WHEN: Sunday, November 19, pot luck 2:00 PM and music around 3:00 PM. Note the earlier time!
LOCATION: Cane Creek Community Center, 451 Stagger Weed Rd (about a quarter mile from the beginning of Stagger Weed Rd).
SUGGESTED DONATION: $20 per person. As usual, I ask that couples donate an extra $5 to the Cane Creek Community Center, since we will be using their facilities. This is strictly optional.
BRING: Beverages of choice and food for the pot luck. I’ve got a batch of Octoberfest beer bottled and carbonating and it will be ready for the show. (It’s legal to drink Octoberfest beer in November.) I am also leaning towards contributing a repeat performance of the delicious Cuban stew Ropa Vieja.
WEATHER ISSUES: The weather forecast looks decent for Sunday, but we will definitely be indoors.
CONTACT INFORMATION: You can email me at the above [or below] address or call at 828 385-2453 if you have questions.
